Going home

Made it home! This is what the trip from Flagstaff to San Diego looked like. 

Going to Flagstaff

Today we drove from Amarillo to Flagstaff stopping in Albuquerque and then driving through the painted desert and petrified forest.

It was really windy 

And onward 

Tomorrow the plan is to hit the road at 6am! This will get us back to San Diego by 2pm. From there, we need to empty the cars, wash & return the rental van, go and get the moving van, fill it up and roll out to Sacramento on Saturday. 

Goodbye Amarillo

Rolled out early, stopped to see Cadillac Ranch and a rolling stop to see Pippy the Penguin.

How very special. This was on the corner as we turned to go to Cadillac Ranch.

Was surprised that it was small (I thought everything was bigger in Texas) and it was interactive (there are tons of spray paint cans, and the smell of wet paint).

Today we are headed to Flagstaff, with a stop in Albuquerque for lunch and a drive around the Petrified Forest / Painted Desert. When we get to Albuquerque, we will be sure to take that left turn 🐰 

Oklahoma and Texas

Today was a hot and windy drive. We saw temps at 109, and winds coming at 20MPH with gusts at 32MPH for 125 or more miles. Not a fan. Here are some photos

The flies here were plentiful. It was hot. The slide was metal and would give you a permanent souvenir. Otherwise it was nice. Ish. But the flies. Ewww.

Really tho. So we took a regular detour on a regular road but Tom who has never been here before thought we should go up a bit more before getting on the freeway. I’m pretty used to this.

Let’s get out of Texas. Saw a guy just walk into a grocery store with a big gun. Not a fan. Tomorrow we will see Cadillac Ranch and Pippy the Penguin before exiting this state. We will be headed to Flagstaff, and might drive through the painted desert.
