Ann Arbor

 It was a short drive, got to have a nice picnic lunch with the kiddos. Went back to get ready for packing up the kiddos and spend another 4 hours packing and repacking. Meanwhile, the electricity went out at our Airbnb around 3:30 and at 8:30 it was still out. Covered by Airbnb and now we are at the Residence Inn. Not as cute here but it’ll be brief. We start our return trip tomorrow!

Tonica IL

Stayed in Tonica, population 750. Lightning bugs and lightning storms. 

It’s all fun and games until there’s a tornado watch

We mapped out all these places and then someone called a tornado watch and this California girl was not happy! 

So I did next logical step and mapped out all the counties until safety. If this was a bingo game. I got blackout.

Lincoln Nebraska

Woo wee! We made it! But only after being rerouted slightly north on the final stretch. No big deal because there was ice cream waiting for us.

Really. Our Airbnb is on top of an ice cream shop. 

So we got some. 

I got dark chocolate, Tom didn’t 

Tom agreed to pose in front of the shop 

Then went for a walk to burn off 1/1000th of the calories.

Then we came back to the place. The sun goes down really late. Weird. Tomorrow is a short 6.5h driving day. So happy about that!
